【惊艳2007-同一个英版,同一个梦想】Happy Birthday Darling

Today my darling turned 51.

Soon in one month I'll turn 23.

See, we have this 28 year separation thing going on.

It's been that way as long as I can remember.

He's awesome.

He was raised in a small place, the oldest son of a Shanghai family sent by the government to support North-west development of China.

Not a lot of cash or education in his family, but he was a motivated little guy.

Though he likes anything that is art-related, things like architecture, drawing... he's best good at charcoal drawing.

He went to read law at Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and then worked at Higher People's Court of xxxxx.

Not very long later, he went to Peking University Law School for a Masters, and then went into private practice.

He was good at it.

I remember being a kid and having other lawyers pull me aside and praise my Darling.

Now he's still a lawyer.

If you have bad feelings about lawyers, you should meet my Darling.

I've never met someone who takes his oath to heart and present the profession with skills and honour.

My pursuit of internal truth are rooted in the values of my Darling.
He never pushed me hard.

But just as he's never pushed me hard, he's never let me quit anything.

And I respect that.

He never pushed me to go to a law school either.

In fact, it was just the opposite.

He didn't want me to go to a law school as he knows how hard it is to do law.

He wanted me to try something else.

But something happened about that time.

I discovered my thing.

I discovered that I loved to study law as a degree.

I was terrified of telling my Darling.

Darling wouldn't allow me, I knew it.

But then he gave me the most valued gift of my life: He totally supported my pursuit of passion.

And since that time, in addition to being a loving Darling, he has been an incredibly supportive advisor and friend.

Now, I am about graduating from a graduate school.

He'd instilled the lessons that hard work and education were important.

Darling had a graduate degree, of course I would get one.

Though the future's not yet clear.

I might read a Masters or even a PhD.

I might go and get a job.

I still seem not to have known where I'll be heading to, but he trusts that my values are strong and that I will eventually find my place in this world.

Happy Birthday, Darling.

I love you so much, more than you can possibly imagine.
