Information for six different programs are available. The first three awards listed below do not require a student to apply. Students are automatically awarded these scholarships if they meet the GPA requirements. Scholarship forms for the remaining awards are available in the sidebar.
International Freshman Academic Award
The WSU International Freshman Academic Award is available to entering non-immigrant, non-resident, undergraduate freshman students who have not attained a year of transfer credit from elsewhere and who are offered admission to Washington State University. The WSU Academic Scholarship Application is not required since the award will be offered automatically, based on GPA from your previous institution(s). Awards are distributed during both Fall and Spring semesters. They will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students who are offered the award must return written notification of acceptance for Fall semester by June 1 or for Spring semester by December 1. If written notification is not received by the office of International Enrollment, the award may be given to another deserving student.
Level One – $1,000/semester tuition waiver - offered to freshman students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 – 3.59 (on 4.0 scale). The award is renewable for seven additional semesters of undergraduate, first-degree study if a 3.2 cumulative GPA is maintained while attending classes on a WSU campus, full-time student status is maintained, and 24 credits per year are successfully completed. (Total possible award is $1,000 x 8 semesters = $8,000).
Level Two – $2,000/semester tuition waiver - offered to freshman students with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 and higher (on 4.0 scale). The award is renewable for seven additional semesters of undergraduate, first-degree study if a 3.2 cumulative GPA is maintained while attending classes on a WSU campus, full-time student status is maintained, and 24 credits per year are successfully completed. (Total possible award is $2,000 x 8 semesters = $16,000).
This award cannot be held concurrently with other institutional awards from Washington State University. However, additional departmental or donor-based scholarships can be held concurrently with this award. International Merit Award
The International Merit Award from International Programs usually offers three merit based tuition reduction awards/semester, $2000 in value (but variable from year to year based on funds available) to international, degree-seeking, F-1 undergraduate students attending the Pullman campus who meet at least one of the following criteria:(1) Cumulative GPA of 3.6 or above, (2) Unusual service to the university or community and/or (3) Other extraordinary work or achievement. To apply, submit the following:
Completed International Programs Scholarship Form Personal letter describing your meritorious qualities per items 1, 2, and/or 3 above Letter of recommendation from your advisor, a professor, or an official program administrator

International Postbacc Academic Award
The WSU International Postbacc Academic Award is available to non-immigrant, non-resident, undergraduate students who are admitted to WSU after having already received a bachelor degree (post-baccalaureate status). The WSU Academic Scholarship Application is not required since the award will be offered automatically, based on GPA from the previous institution(s). Awards are distributed during both Fall and Spring semesters. A limited number of awards will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funds are limited, therefore students who are admitted later in the season are not guaranteed this award.

International Science Student Scholarships
The International Science Student Scholarships are offered by the College of Sciences to new international undergraduate students who are going into one of the Science programs at WSU. Programs that qualify are Biology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Microbiology, pre-Medical, pre-Dental, pre-Veterinary, Biotechnology, pre-Pharmacy, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Physics, and Math.
Successful applicants will be serious incoming international undergraduate students with good grades and an interest in contributing to the human condition through their field. The first section of the International Programs Scholarship Form must be completed for this scholarship plus a statement describing the applicants' plans for the future in his/her chosen field. There are two scholarships of $1000 each available to be distributed for fall semester 2007. The deadline is August 1.
Emergency Tuition Support Award
A foreign student must satisfy the following criteria to be eligible for emergency tuition assistance through International Programs. The deadlines are June 1 and December 1 for fall and spring semesters respectively. 1.The F-1 or J-1 student must be attending the Pullman campus, and must be encountering an unforeseen financial need which has arisen from an event beyond her/his control, such as the loss of (a) an assistantship; (b) a scholarship; or (c) family, personal or other funding resulting from a death, serious illness, political upheaval in the students' home country, etc.
2.The student should be in the final stages of her/his degree program.
3.The student should provide evidence that other sources of funding for tuition are not available.
4.The student must NOT have received emergency funding from International Programs, previously.
5.Other extenuating circumstances will be considered if funds are available.
