这道题我选了E，答案选B，之前好像没人讨论过，没什么头绪，谢谢 这里 E 不对是因为这句不能倒装的。. . . they assumed that never would their grip on Algeria be secure if they did not hold it. 不顺的地方在 assumed that never would . . . 。这里应该 that 后面立刻就跟着分句的主语，不然念起来就很不舒服的。 谢谢！是不是虚拟语气的分句才可以倒装， 例如：Were I here, I would never let you go. ???
另外it代什么？Morroco? It 在这里是指 Morocco。
倒装也不一定是要 subjunctive 的。（我不喜欢用“虚拟”因为有时祈使等句也可以用 subjunctive 的。）不过你举的那句前分句没有 if，所以就倒装了。
