本科会计转金融/stat/maths master
本科会计专业的,转金融或统计或数学硕士是不是比较困难?哪个比较好?(个人比较偏向数学`呵呵)P|3R H&`*Y i
因为想拥有多方面知识`不想只固定在会计上... 统计和金融都挺好
纯数学就不那么理想了 From what I know, unless you have taken some courses in mathematics, it would be quite difficult for one to do a graduate degree in Mathematics with an undergraduate degree in Accounting/Accountancy. The courses required usually are linear algebra, real analysis and calculus, which is at a higher level than those introductory calculus courses.
Similarly, it would require more advanced knowledge in areas like statistical inferences, distribution theory and probability before one would a graduate programme in Statistics. 9H yy!y%ZJ6n h
Sometimes, students are required to take additional courses as make-up courses prior to the commencement of the graduate programme, or before the students apply for the graduate degree. Some universities, on the other hand, would require a graduate diploma to ensure students possess substantial knowledge before proceeding to an advanced level.

yes yes yes!!! I understand the difficulties to get into those Maths/Stat graduate program (coz I've checked many top unis' website). I also want to take those courses prior to my application. However, our uni does not offer many advanced maths courses, which made it difficult for our uni graduates to enter those top unis to continue maths/stat direction.&\ [#L$a L1U8NA)Y
so will it be difficult for me to apply the Msc finance? I mean as an acct student. (I did not take the econometric nor derivative course for my undergraduate.)

Of course, the universities would look at your results i.e. GPA or classification for the honours degree. If I am not wrong, econometrics is not really necessary for gaining entry into a MSc Finance unless you are taking a MSc which is concentrating more towards Financial Economics. Otherwise, knowledge in basic statistical methods, theory and reasoning, for example, topics like probability, random variable theory, estimation, hypothesis-testing, correlation, regression, ANOVA, should suffice.
