Text:
In the day and age, heathy lifestyles have been taken more and more attention on, and about how to bring about the lifestyles, people are divided into two groups. One believes that the government has the relevant responsibilities, whereas the other supposes it’s everybody’s right to choose their lifestyles unconstrainedly, whatever they are.
According to a well-known theory, the government’s power originates from its people, and the former cannot do anything that haven’t been permitted by the later. So officials aren’t responsible for all aspects of the society, and it’s not that wise to consider ensuring healthy lifestyles just depends on the government. At the same time, the government shouldn’t intervene in citizen’s private sphere. Extremely, if somebody wants to suicide, except advising, I don’t think the government has the right to claim the one to stop the deed, furthermore, the responsibility isn’t supposed to be imposed on the government.
However, can we make all the decisions on our own about how to live? Just because the government is not almighty, and its capability, right and responsibility are limited? Never! The reason why the government is created is that there’re many purposes we cannot achieve via our own ability. For instance, we have no ability to construct athletic facilities, but the government does, we cannot get all the knowledge about healthy diet, but the government can call for experts to make suggestions to the public by mass media. Frankly speaking, in the modern society, if there is no government, there is no possibility to make decisions for ourselves.
From my standpoint, for ensuring healthy lifestyles, the government affects the macro-environment by supplying infrastructure and policies, and the individual makes her or his decision. The two can never be separated from each other. But the point to be emphasized is that the government had better take as fewer restrictive measures interfering with individual’s private sphere as possible.
