Being a graduate student myself, I still feel the website is useful in the sense it is a good place to improve my English ===> the video and audio lecture is great.  The undergraduate classes are useful for me as well because I can know more about other subjects from Accounting to Chem to Engg, somewhere down the road, these subjects might be useful in my career::z5

maebus 发表于 2007-1-12 04:55

It looks like they offer a course on English, called "Listening, Speaking, and Pronunciation", as part of their foreign languages curriculum. I haven't had a look at it myself, but it certainly may be worth checking out.

The fact is that you have limited time as a graduate student, you have to read the original papers rather than textbooks, and attending seminars rather than textbook based lectures, there are very good seminars in MIT WEBSITE in a webpage named MIT world, I think these maybe more useful for graduates students::z1rW-KY'_*|1W{7H1W

Oh, and different English I guess::z2

lovejustlove 发表于 2007-1-27 07:09

Bingo, they are all different ~ :)
r5`xs#B%k6F;o U@ w"{8Qy D
Take macro economic as example, basically the theories are the same, but teacher will  put
&qY#~k1a3u+F"o8Y
GtphL:_3pWP them in different order in order to help students understanding. Sometimes, since the time
2LM+X&`f #X:j3\QEp8\F
doesn't allow us to learn all the chapters on the book, some of which will be skipped. So it
X,cp:][/p1F
-{(CL^~0[)pB.m would be better(saves the time , help you pass the exams) to read your own teachers'
Hv B pk jZp
Z'fk6u)I#`9u slides. But if you have time and the interest on some theories that were not metioned by k V g2`9b4_
-X(K-MI-w6]6kd
your lectors,it could be a nice place to learn them:)
"H's1L#ZKY\,Rw2uR &v:_/b3w.E c
And for some courses, like accounting, maybe the terms are  total different due to Europe is ~}Y$`){G9b

8[j*x/yS is using the different Fisical systems. They all have their own accounting association  who
8S@4l/[Q |O6_ P%t
makes different regulations. While you can read it to see the differences.

I agree on the accounting part as I know here CPA rules while in UK probably is ACCA (not sure the exact name, lol, I know in Canada is CGA, CMA and CA::z1 ).ig?({)D1wdN/p'F
\%n_,{Y!h8y
But in term of skipping chapters...well, I think the US professors are less good at that than no one::z5  One of my professor basically skipped half of the book, and only do the cherrypicking on the other half.  That really depends on the professor I guess.
