Creative artists should always be given the freedom to express their own ideas (in words, pictures, music or film) in whichever way they wish. There should be no government restrictions on what they do.To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

In present-day society, creative artistic works are being regarded as an indispensable part of exquisite life which people are dreaming for a quite a long period of time. Yet at the same time, controversy has arisen over whether the government’s restrictions on artists are a blessing or a curse. Some people contend that the government should not place restrictions on them. Form my own perspective, I think their view is overly simplistic.0 R- i7 s! p. e; B
! o# A8 _% r* F# }, ~* t9 V5 PConvincing arguments can be made that it is essential for the government to take necessary restrictions on artists. To begin with, regarding the extreme thoughts which are characterized by almost all the artists, only the governments have the ability to guide them to the right direction. For instance, it is undeniable that quite a number of artists express their talents using a morally wrong way. Furthermore, as many artists only considered for themselves, numerous scandals have been disclosed about artistic behaviors which exerted baneful effects on people’s daily life, these questions cannot be addressed properly without the participation of government. Last but not least, due to the difficulty of understanding the implication of artistic ideas, some artists used their works as a tool to spread antisocial ideas, including race discrimination and religion insult, which would bring detrimental influence to common people, especially the adolescents.

Admittedly, posing mandatory restrictions on artists’ work may carry potential drawbacks. One illustration of this is that it may severely stifle their creativity and imagination by narrowing thoughts scope. However, it is worth noting that the governments are just spurred to put strain on the artistic activities which are harmful to the social development.4 f8 b; _6 I+ J
+ c1 n* g* }. O0 e! f6 r3 X" ITo conclude, I would concede that putting restrictions on artists may create some negative effects. Even so, it is unjustifiable to overlook the advantages this practice will spawn on our life. Overall, I am convinced that it is completely necessary for the government to introduce this measure for the benefit of the total society.
