http://www.uiowa.edu/~acadtech/phonetics/english/frameset.html

Daily Tips on Learning English
The first tip I learned today is the difference between can and can’t. The most effective way to distinguish ‘can’ and ‘can’t’ in oral English is in stress: ‘can’ is not stressed but the verb after it is; whereas ‘can’t’ is stressed and the verb after it is not stressed, e.g., I can drive bicycle, but I can’t drive a car.

The second tip I learned today is how to distinguish the number thirteen and thirty, fourteen and forty, fifteen and fifty, and so forth. The secret of distinguishing these pairs of words in spoken English is also in the stress patterns: in the –teen numbers, it is the first syllable which is stressed while, in the –ty numbers, it is the second syllable which is stressed, e.g.,
thirteen, thirty.

The third tip I’ve learned today is about stressed and unstressed syllables. A stressed syllable is pronounced more prominently than surrounding syllables, simply put, we say louder and lengthen the vowel sound. While in the unstressed syllables the vowels are reduced. It is important to lengthen stressed vowel sounds, e.g., the stress pattern of ‘I didn’t do it on purpose’ is similar with that of ‘banana’.

听力:精听了老友记101并记忆了相关词汇。
阅读:看了OG第一章。读后感如下:顺便练习写作:

Book review of the first chapter of OG

I spent about one hour reading the first chapter of the OG this evening. Definitely a good book it is. The major contribution of reading the first chapter of OG is that I must change my motivation of taking IBT. I should not treat this examination as the way I do with CET4/6, or the GRE. Because since tonight’s reading I have known that ETS created the IBT is not for nothing but to evaluate the prospective students' abilities of using English effectively in an academic environment and communicate confidently with spoken or written English. And what has impressed me most is the ETS' emphasis on students' output skills in oral and written way, i.e. speak and write something after you have read and heard some academic materials.

I want to be a PH.D in the U.S.A, and I want to be successful in the academic setting in the future, therefore I have to improve my abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English--especially speaking, listening and writing.

Though it sounds a little tough for me to dramatically improve my English abilities in just two months, but I regard this period of time as a start of my path toward a successful academic survivor in the America.  Remember, impossible is nothing! I believe if I try my best I can fly freely in my favorite academician sky in the near future.

SO JUST KEEP ON HARD WORKING TOMMOROW!

6.17学习总结(下午被领导抓去参加活动了,FRIENDS没听,阅读和单词任务没有完成)

1. DAILY TIPS ON LEARNING ENGLISHThe first tip I learned today is how syllable stress affect the meaning of words. As we have known, stressed syllables are said louder and lengthened, and unstressed syllables are said softly and the vowel sounds are reduced. Stress syllable alone can make the difference of a word's meaning. If the second syllable is stressed the word is a verb, and if the first syllable is stressed the word is either a noun or an ajective, e.g., If you don not have a perform fishing in the pool is not performed.

The second tips I learned today is the difference between voiced and voiceless consanants, such as the difference between 't' and 'd'. I think this is very easy for us to distinguish them, so I don't need to tell details of it.

The third tips on learning English I learned today is how to use the difference of voiced and voiceless consanants to distinguish different words. The vowel followed by voiced consanants is shorter than that followed by voiceless consanants, e.g., the sound of 'e' in 'bet 'is shorter than the sound of 'a' in 'bad'.

2.刚听了第一期的SCIENTIFIC AMERICANS. (链接一下应该不侵权
http://www.taisha.org/bbs/images/smilies/default/smile.gif

http://e.taisha.org/thread-687489-1-1.html]http://e.taisha.org/thread-687489-1-1.html

sb has been successful in doing sth/
there is a strong emphasis on sth/
My parents give attention, counseling, and extra help whenever I need./
sth is important for two reasons. First,--. Second,---./
sth/sb plays a major role in sth./
sb/sth emphasize the importance of sth/doing sth./

sb face a number of barriers upon doing sth./
with the increasing sth today, it is essential to help sb address the emotional, social, developmental, educational, or health problems that often afflict homeless children./

祈祷明天下雨哦,那样下午的活动就取消了哦,就有时间把今天拉下的的补上了哦。呵呵。
